Tony and Annette's S/V Magnolia |
Today dawned beautifully with sunshine and warmth after a
foggy night filled with the tooting of Tooter. Our spook friends had packed up
most of their stuff and were waiting for the ferry to come pick them up. Half
of them had left

earlier. This time I made sure I had a good breakfast because
I knew it would be a busy day with visitors. Sure enough they started coming on
private boats and then the ferry arrival with more. Fred and I traded off with
tours and gift shop duties all afternoon with various sized groups. At around
2:30 we were able to finally sit and have lunch, pasta with Ragu for me and
with leftover stroganoff for Fred. Fred had talked to a couple that had arrived
on a beautiful sailboat called Magnolia and they invited us to come aboard at
about 6 for a little happy hour. So after the steady stream of people finally
died down at around 5 pm I got Sac’s dinner ready so she could eat a little
early and we could meet our new friends. I had wanted to continue to work on my
painting but there just wasn’t enough time and I wanted to get Sac fed and
comfortable.

Fred went down early to get the dinghy ready and I got out of the
house at 6:15 with a bag of corn to share. We arrived at their boat and were
welcomed aboard with freshly made bread that Anthony had baked on his little
grill. He took the 4 ears of corn and put them on the grill to cook. Annette
brought up some lovely white wine and we had a very nice time chatting away.
She gave us a nice tour of their boat, which was quite interesting. It’s
amazing how different the boats are and fun to see them. Our corn grilled
nicely and we enjoyed it with the wine. It was nice to just relax after our
terribly busy day and just look outside the boat and enjoy the scenery and
sunset. There was one other sailboat that was moored not too far away and they
were enjoying the warm and muggy evening as well in the cove. It was starting
to get dark

so we said our goodbyes and Fred rowed the dinghy ashore. We walked
up the tram to the house – it was nice to do this again since getting bit by
the yellow jackets didn’t allow us to do this. Fred had sprayed a number of
times the nest under the tram and they were finally killed. This made the area
near the nest finally safe from attack. We got back to the house to find Sac
snoozing in her favorite spot. We weren’t very hungry after our happy hour
snacking, so we just had salads for dinner and I finished up some lobster
bisque, which had some lobster leftover from our dinner last week. We needed to get to bed earlier since we had
to get up early to catch the ferry for our weekly shore leave. Fred had gotten
most of our containers down to the cove earlier to be ready. Off we went to bed
with a contented sleeping Sac snoozing peacefully in the living room. What were
her dreams of? Chasing rabbits and running free without pain or effort?
