Day 56, 12 July

37 visitors

Beautiful Flower South Trail
The weather today was almost as nice as yesterday – gorgeous, warm with a light breeze. I started down to the cove about 9ish to use the outhouse and as I was walking down I got a radio call from Ethan that he had a very mellow family coming ashore and I told him I was on my way down and would greet them. The very warm and welcoming family had just reached shore and I greeted them and escorted them up to the house. They come here often and were celebrating a birthday and gave us muffins and strawberries. They were very interested in our past careers and it was very engaging to talk to them.  A few more private boats started arriving with their passengers before the ferry and we gave them all nice tours. We did manage to squeeze in a pizza breakfast between visitors.  Ethan arrived with his passengers and we hosted them for 2 hours. I gave a few tours and manned the gift shop and Fred gave a lot of tours. It was a busy day again with our visitors on another ideal sunny day.  Fred managed to say goodbye to our overnight guests while I was busy hosting – they were a very nice couple. We had a few more private parties show up in their boats and hosted tours. We did get in a quick lunch of leftovers and I got to finally eat the lobster scrambled eggs that Lori had cooked me the day before, and they were very yummy.
Two Seagull Chicks at Southern Point of Island
Finally in the afternoon Fred was able to mow the upper lawns with the mowers and I went down the South trail to prune. I did stop at Arthurs nest and saw no sign of him or his mother. It was days since I released him. I guess it was a good sign that they were both gone. I did not want to find his cold little body in the trail like his siblings and gave him and his mother plenty of time and space to grow strong again. I don’t know what happened to him and just wish and hope for him the best. Perhaps in the future I might have a gleaming white seagull swoop down and do a touch and go on my shoulder and it will be my beloved Arthur telling me that he made it and he is all right. I do hope that is so. I have had birds that I have raised and saved, return for just a moment to let me know that they are doing fine. I continued down the
Heart Shaped Pendent of Seguin Island Beach Glass

trail snipping away and reached the end vista point where I saw two babies that were quite large and advanced. It was so great to see these two that we have watched for so long. I crept to a nice spot where I could see them join each other and took lots of photos. After about 10 minutes I climbed back up to the trail looking back at the fuzzy backlit chicks wishing them well and returned to the house. I worked on the blog and knit a bit finishing the bottom border trim of half of my new dress – a tedious but necessary 33 inches Fred made salad and cooked up some beef pieces in grilled onions, A-1 and Lean Perrins sauces with some potatoes.  I was delicious. After dinner I started the careful and time consuming process of picking up stitches for my knitted dress to create 195 stitches along the border of the hem to set up the skirt patterns of lace. It worked out quite well as they explained in the pattern but it was still a long careful process with lots of counting and a few adjustments to get the right number of stitches. I am set now to create the magnificent skirt with 3 patterns of lace. So I finally was able to get to bed after achieving this knitting feat. I had been wearing my new beach glass pendant that Fred brought back to me from getting wrapped at Pamela’s in Bath. My beautiful aquamarine heart that was a gift from the sea at Seguin – I love it! I finally washed up and got to bed late as usual with dreams of blue stitches, sea glass and fuzzy baby chicks wandering my mind.
