Day 25, 11 June

7 visitors

Today we got up bright and early to catch our ferry to the mainland. What a glorious warm sunny morning it was! Ethan arrived with 4 Wednesday Warriors and long pieces of wood to replace the east facing fascia near the roof on the house. We had a very pleasant ride back to the dock. Our feet get wet while getting on the boat so they are cold during the ride but snug and warm in our jackets on top in the breeze. We had Lindsey, Zion and Pepper as shipmates for the ride. Got our containers loaded in the car and off to town. First we stopped at the Phippsburg Elementary School and dropped off our recyclable bottles in their big box out front like we did last week.  They will use the recycle money to help build a new basketball court. Off to Cyndy’s to get water and hugs and kisses to Hinkley who is sporting his new puppy cut for summer. Off to downtown Bath to get breakfast at a coffee shop where Fred downloads a new version of iBird along with some other iPad magazines while I go to the office to get mail, turn in money, logs and have a nice chat with Catherine – our office manager. I did purchase a cute little T-shirt and two books for Megan who is back home taking care of our cat, Bill. We will mail her stuff out later. Fred goes to the bank and we hit Reny’s for a few things and off to do laundry while Fred hits the hardware store. We then drive a few minutes to Brunswick to check on Fred’s Rite Aid prescription. (They didn’t have it). While he is checking that I pop into a couple of shops and look around finding a nice pair of blue pearl and aquamarine earrings in silver on sale! We take a walk down the charming town and find a nice deli to get Rueben’s for lunch. We took another nice stroll around the other side of the street to get back to the car. We stop at a store to get watercolor paper for me to hopefully paint on.

We do a few more errands at Target; Bath, Bed and Beyond; and Petco. Time is ticking by and we head back to Bath and go to Shaw’s to get groceries. Another stop in downtown Bath at another market to get what we can’t find at Shaw’s. Across the street is an ice cream shop where we get some kid’s scoops of yummy goodness. So it’s time to get back to the dock to meet Ethan and his boat at 4 PM. On the way we stopped at a tiny market for a  couple of things and back to the dock. I put the borrowed wind/rain pants I used in Cyndy’s car (we got our own – ordered from LL Bean). Ethan drove up as we were unpacking the car and he went to get the ferry. So off we go back to our island home.  Another nice ride back home in Ethan’s “stretched limo” – HA!  When I got off the boat in the cove, I spotted a real pretty blue thing in the pebbles in the mini surf. I went back to look after the ferry left and found a gorgeous piece of aquamarine colored glass in the shape of a heart!  It is the prettiest piece of beach glass I have found yet and it matches my new earrings!  (see – I had to get them) What a special find and gift from Seguin.
Ducks at north end among the rocks
We lugged all our new purchases to the tram and got them to the top where we unloaded everything and brought them to the house. After unpacking and a bit to relax I decided to hike down the North trail where I got to see my first baby seagull - he ducked into a bush but I took one picture of the adorable speckled, fuzzy, chick.

I went to the end and sat on the cliffs and enjoyed the ocean for a bit before heading back - Ah so nice to be back home! We had a relaxing evening of soup and salad for dinner before knitting and bedtime.  Sweet dreams fuzzy chicks.
